Constant activism by gay couples in California has this week helped overturn the gay-marriage ban.

Please urgently support Reprieve’s campaign to save British grandmother Linda Carty who was wrongfully being sentenced to death by a Texan court and is now dangerously close to execution. Below is the background to Linda’s case – please take action and sign Reprieve’s petition now! It only takes a few minutes but could save a life.
Albert Woodfox has spent nearly all of the last 38 years in solitary confinement at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. His case has brought protests from Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, who argue that Woodfox’s decades in lockdown constitute torture, and from a growing band of supporters, who believe that he was denied a fair trial. For more than ten years, he has been fighting for his release in the courts. But yesterday, a ruling by a federal appeals court ensured that for the forseeable future, Albert Woodfox will remain right where he has been for nearly four decades: in a 6 x 9 cell in the heart of America’s largest and most notorious prison.

Please join the latest action from the National Labor Committee who are wanting to help more than two million mostly young women garment workers in Bangladesh climb out of misery!
Factory owners in Bangladesh are proposing a new minimum wage of just 14 cents an hour.
The workers are asking for 43 cents an hour, which would allow them to climb out of misery and at least into poverty - where they could hang on by the fingertips and live with a modicum of decency.

Gordon has just received letters from Herman and Albert, and he would like to share with you the following extracts:
Herman:
Yes, not only did your letter make it through but so many others are coming in also. So far I have heard from 48 different people from the UK who have seen the film and expressing outrage. And let me tell you something the film is stirring up a lot of support.
Albert:
Had a talk with King earlier this week and he told me how wonderful the premiere was, and that he went to screenings in Scotland with you and said it was a very special time. I kept thinking about Anita and how she must have been looking over your shoulder with a thousand suggestions! Can’t tell you how much I miss that laugh of hers!
