The Amnesty International Secretariat has released yet another statement on the Angola Three, calling for Albert Woodfox and Herman Wallace be freed from solitary and their cases re-examined for misconduct by the state. It is a HUGE gift to receive this kind of attention from Amnesty because this means every country in the world where they operate is now aware of this case of gross injustice against these political prisoners in the United States. Please click the link to read and download the statement from Amnesty!
Amnesty International continues to call for a review of the cases of Albert Woodfox and Herman Wallace, two of the 'Angola 3' who remain imprisoned after 35 years in Louisiana State Penitentiary, where they are held in permanent 'lockdown' conditions of solitary confinement that can only be described as inhuman and degrading.
Amnesty International welcomes the recent finding by a federal magistrate, effectively rejecting the state's claim that such conditions do not constitute "cruel and unusual punishment" under the US Constitution, and calls for the men's isolation to cease immediately.
Amnesty International's support for a review of the men's convictions is based on disturbing evidence that the trials of Woodfox and Wallace did not meet with international fair trial standards and that their convictions were based on the tainted evidence of prisoner informants. Amnesty is further concerned that they may have been targeted because of their political activism in prison.

A bright light has gone out By Sharon on September 11, 2007
Anita will be sorely missed by the many lives that she touched. I was a Body Shop girl in the US in college and had an opportunity to meet Anita on one of her trips across the pond. She left an indellible impression and I have been awed & inspired by her over and over again since then. Peace to you and your family, Anita. We will all carry a bit of your flame with us.

For all of those that have lost her my sincere sympathies.
One of very few not afraid to stand up and be counted, a shining example to us all.
May we all have the courage of our convictions and follow where she led.
Thank you Anita.

A terrible loss to the world By Lucy Fletcher on September 11, 2007
Just wanted to send my love to Anita's family at this terrible time. If only there were more Anita's in this world. I was once privileged enough to meet her and she was truly inspirational and light years ahead of her time. She achieved so much in her lifetime and her legacy will live on.
My thoughts go out to you.

Dear Roddick Family, Friends, and Staff,
I am so sorry for your loss. My daughter and I both found her a hero and she had opened our eyes to many injustices of the world. She has forever changed our lives. The world has lost an extraordinary woman. You all have lost so much more.
God bless you all through this time. May familiar hearts embrace you with love.
With deepest sympathy.
